The D major scale has got two black notes (sharps) - C# and F#. Here is what the scale looks like in music notations:

How To Play It


Here is how to play this scale with the right hand:

  1. Thumb on D

  2. Finger #2 on E

  3. Finger #3 on Fsharp

  4. - bring your thumb under your third finger -

  5. thumb on G

  6. Finger #2 on A

  7. Finger #3 on B

  8. Finger#4 on Csharp

  9. Finger #5 (pinky) on D

For the D major scale left hand, you would play this:

  1. Finger #5 (pinky) on D

  2. Finger #4 on E

  3. Finger #3 on Fsharp

  4. Finger #2 on G

  5. thumb on A

  6. - bring your third finger over your thumb -

  7. Finger #3 on B

  8. Finger #2 on Csharp

  9. Finger #1 on D
